Compass Event 2009, October 15, 2009
August 13, 2009;
Compass invites you to the “Annual Event 2009” on 15 October in the auditorium of the University
of Applied Sciences in Rapperswil/Switzerland. In the scope of presentations, live-hacking
demonstrations and talks, the participants are familiarised with current safety threats. The
Compass experts talk about their experiences with penetration tests, ethical hacking and Reverse
Engineering results. Furthermore Dr Thomas Dübendorfer as a guest speaker is going to focus on
click fraud and how Google protects their advertisers from it.
Dr Thomas Dübendorfer is the chairman of the Information Security Society Switzerland (ISSS)
and works as a software engineer tech lead for Google in Zurich in the field of security. He also
works part-time as a lecturer at the ETH (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) in Zurich. On 15
October he is going to introduce the audience to the topic of click fraud. This is a system
enabling the manipulation of clicks in an online advertising system, which balances the accounts
per click on a banner ad. Dübendorfer is going to describe the functionality and what protective
steps Google is taking.
The annual „Compass Security Event“ has already established as an integral part and is
renowned for the well-founded presentations about ICT security. First and foremost weaknesses and
threats in systems are pinpointed, true to the motto “risk detected – risk banned”. Thus, for
example, the speech of Walter Sprenger, managing director of Compass, will deal with safe
E-banking, especially with the security stick CLX.Sentinel of the Swiss CREALOGIX.
Moreover the service provider is going to inform about the topic of “Compass is expanding
NMAP by SCTP”, give a “field report on social engineering attacks” and answer the question: “0-day
exploits – are we powerless?”. Apart from the presentations there is the opportunity to ask
questions and to have discussions.
