November 10 and 11, 2010: ITACS-Course "Network Analysis - Sniffing"
Learning targets: The participants learn the handling of network sniffers and network analysis tools in theory and with many hands-on exercises. They are able to identify network- or Firewall-problems, to narrow them down and to determine their causes.

Target group:
- Security Officers
- Network-administrators/engineers
- Unix-/Windows-administrators
- Firewall-administrators/engineers
Requirements:
- Familiarity with the Windows command line
- Basic knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP)
- Already recorded network traffic
- Sniffing, DNS, HTTP are known terms
Contents:
- Recording and analysing of network traffic
- Analysis of network problems
- Hands-On training with network tools such as Wireshark, NMAP, Netcat
- Analysing protocols of Kerberos, RPC, SSH, SSL/TLS
- Forensic investigations in the network
